56

The thing is, while normal means are helpful to people, in general, there are people for whom they fall short, in one way or another. They may pursue normal means and yet want for things, even to the point of desperation - that is not uncommon - or they may find it largely impossible to pursue normal means. Also, the world of normal means produces a generally satisfactory environment, and even, looking at it a particular way, a wonderfully satisfactory environment, but looking at it another way it often produces an unsatisfactory environment, or even a dismal one.

The normal answer to the latter difficulty is something we could perhaps distinguish from the normal, especially if we were inclined to be humorous, in the same way we distinguished the magical from the normal, that is, by using a certain word, in that case the word "magical", and in this case the word is "political". But do I say that in jest. The political is a division of the normal.

The thing is, the normal, that is, laboring and politicking, produce results, but they also leave some people bereft. And those people perhaps could get the benefits of the normal if only they could find it within themselves to act in certain ways, but they can't. It is for this reason or partly for this reason, because the normal does not seem to answer all needs, that I accuse those who deride the magical of a kind of criminality.
